Summer Over Yet?

I know most people love summer and I used to, but then I got wiser. Summer and Winter could be replaced with year round Spring and Fall. Even temperatures is what I crave. 105 degrees is just too much. I do see a day that will be 95 for the high in our near future. Cold wave coming through...I am so ready for October to get here.

Enough about the weather, here is the project for today. This is an example of the polished stone technique which can be found by clicking on SCS. I stamped "happy" on glossy cardstock with embossing ink and applied clear embossing powder. I then applied the polish stone technique. Stamped the Lily and applied the ribbon. Where Are You?

It has been awhile since I have posted anything on any site and if anyone is reading, I am still here. It is Sunday and what a beautiful day here in Texas. It's sunny and not that hot, for Texas that is. I am still considering local area craft shows and opening an Etsy shop. Etsy is one of my favorite sites right now. I love seeing what everyone is making! HGTV used to have a show that spotlighted some artists work, but all they have on anymore is reruns. I would love to see a new show once in a while.

Today's project picture is from a denim purse that I made from an old pair of jeans. It's the first one I made and painted. The handle was made from a piece of pant leg material. The inside was lined with a recycled vest of green and white stripe. Well, I am off to create. Have a wonderful week!

First Sketch....

For today's project I decided to try my hand at a sketch. It took me forever it seemed and I am familiar with Paintshop Pro, no expert, but familiar. For the next sketch I am going to design the card first and then make a sketch of it. In order to see exactly what is needed, I sometimes need to work in reverse. I wanted to make a card from the sketch, but ran out of time. I will post it later once it's completed.

New Family Member & Tag Card

I want to introduce the newest member of our family, Missy. In an earlier post, I mentioned that she adopted us and she has. We are unsure how old she is or what she has gone through, but it has taken awhile for her to trust us completely. Missy was the one who came running into our house without a thought one day. Mom had been feeding her outside, in which she had taken over the feeding when a neighbor moved and couldn't take Missy along. Missy ran in, she stopped and looking befuddled, I know she thought, "How did I get in here!". So, back outside she went. This went on for awhile before last winter and then the temperature dropped. We could not let her stay outside in the cold we had this year. So, when she came in and was hanging out, she stayed. She seems to love it. She ran straight to my bed and slept for a week, curled on my comforter. She now sleeps with her buddy Tyke and Mom. She does occasionally go outside now, but doesn't want the door closed, so she pretty much stays in.








Today's project is a Tag Card. I made this out of a half of a legal sized envelope. The designer paper, cardstock, punches and stamps are from Stampin Up! This card was inspired by Maria Bell's tutorial. She does really great tutorials and always has get inspirations. Check out her blog sites if you get a chance.

A Month Later......

Still here! Still putting around trying to figure out what to do next. I am looking for an item that I saw on someone's webisode the other day (don't remember who's, sorry!). It's a little black foam block that has the Stampin Up! logo on it and it holds paper piercers. My next stop today will be the Splitcoast Stampers site to see if I can find it. If you have not visited yet, I highly recommend Splitcoast. Especially if you like Stampin Up! and Close To My Heart products. Many, many techniques and projects available.

I have been reading Emily Adams' blog for awhile now. I love her "Sense"-ational Sundays and Saturday Etsy picks. I too have found some great things, so here are my favorite picks on Etsy from yesterday.

Jo Bear Creations - This shop is loaded with really cute polymer clay pens. I think the charmed pen tops are genius! The baby socks, oh my! I do not have kids, but I think I still have a stuffed animal or doll somewhere that needs these. Check her out!

Beads by Squirrelette - This shop is loaded with beautiful polymer clay beads. Check out her workmanship. I have seen floral beads before, but her work is amazing!

"Sense"-ational Sunday - I see my kitties chasing each other all over the house. I smell mom's baked beans (Yummy!). I hear nothing, peace and quite while I worked. I touch my keyboard. I taste my mom's baked beans, nothing more comforting. Hopefully, I will have my new camera this week, which is suppose to be shipping today. Then, you can see what I see. Thanks to Emily for the inspiration!

Okay, on to today's project...... more scripture journals! These are composition books covered with Stampin Up! card stock and are hand painted. I love the composition books because they are so easy to cover. They make a great class project, too. Inexpensive and functional. I am not completely satisfied with the paintings. The flowers need a little more movement. They look too flat to me, headed back to the painting table to practice, practice, practice.... A new project I am working on is covering an old vinyl 3-ring binder. I have stripped the vinyl from the boards and now it is sitting on my workspace starring at me, "Cover me! I am cold and exposed!" Okay, so it's probably bad when your craft projects talk to you, but how else are you going to know what color they would like to be! :0)

Spring....

Spring has officially sprung in Texas...but, wait 5 minutes if you don't like the weather it will change, so I have heard. I have flowers around my door which are blooming. Another month and my hibiscus will bloom, cannot wait!

The project for today is a mini notebook my mom and I did for her stamping club back in January. It measures 3X3 if I remember correctly. It is made from the paper towel art and Stampin Up stamps/cardstock. It was a set including a pencil holder (veggie can), the mini notebook and a tray to set both on. All items were covered with the paper towel art. Unfortunately, I only have a picture of the front and back of the notebook. I welcome any questions.... Enjoy

Delight in Life....

It's finally finished! My life journal that has six tabs and all custom pages. Well worth the work. I resolved a long time ago to stop buying the pre-made inserts for my organizer. They never quite fit what I needed. So I made stuff to fit me. Now, I need to finish the "forever in the works" family cookbook/scrapbook idea that I have been milling over for the last couple of years. The cookbook is not coming into focus like I want it too. Still sketching......

As you can tell in this picture, I am scanning everything due to a camera malfunction and limited funds right now. So the edges are out of focus, but you can make out the outline of tabs and see the binding pretty well. I have posted pictures of all the items in the Life Journal in a new album called what else but Life Journal. Each tab divider has a different hand painted flower and color corresponding tab. I have included all of my instructions with each of the pictures. Please feel free to ask questions!

I also have to share my first attempt at alcohol inks and glossy paper. I love seeing what happens with the inks. I grabbed everything that was shiny and applied inks. I am still working out the kinks of application. Who knows what I will use this sheet for, but I will find something..... Enjoy!
